abc image 1We are pleased to offer Acupuncture for Pain Management in Labour for Midwives. This course follows the frame work as set forth by the College of Midwives of British Columbia (CMBC) and has been approved by CMBC. The College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture (CTCMA) has also had a consultative role in the course development and approval of the Acupuncture course for midwives.

In this course you will learn the foundations of traditional chinese medicine, food therapy, moxabustion, acupressure, how to safely perform acupuncture and learn effective acupuncture protocols to address complications that cause pain during labour.

You will learn to manage pain with acupuncture due to:

  • Back Pain
  • Unfavorable cervical dilation and effacement
  • Anxiety
  • Fatigue
  • Failure / Slow to progress
  • Malposition
  • Cervical lip
  • NVP
  • Prodromal Labour
  • Precipitous Labour
  • Retained Placenta
  • After pains
  • Perineal discomfort
  • Hemorrhoids

Traditionally, it has always been the midwife who performed acupuncture during labour, we are excited to bring this role back into the birthing process.
